We were making conversation in Neil Williams Gallery, when they pointed out a tall man behind us, and said he was the man to talk to about the seas. I invited him to talk, and he kindly took the time to tell us a little of his life, holding the weighty bronze in his strong, weathered hands. Learning to sail on lakes in land, he went on to become an olympic medallist, design the pico, and win the famous Round the Island race, beating over 1,200 vessels in a boat he picked up for £20 and brought back to life!

Below is a recording of our conversation, including his story about a swan he untangled from fishing wire and nurtured back to health in his conservatory a few weeks ago!
